Kootenay Film’s “Documentary Creation Workshop” 🎬 was the fifth in a series of professional development opportunities to foster engagement and growth among Kootenay Screen Based Industry Workers. A fascinating and informative afternoon with documentary filmmaker Patricia Gruben produced some vibrant discussion and sparked inspiration among participants.
Following the workshop, Gruben’s film ‘Heart of Gold’, screened at The Shoebox, followed by a Q+A with herself and Composer Martin Gotfrit.
Set in the 1960s, the film features some local history, as it links resistance to the Vietnam War with Doukhobor history. The film received three Leo motion picture nominations for Best Screenwriting, Best Musical Score in a Motion Picture and Best Lead Performance by a Female. For those who missed it, it will be streaming on Amazon Prime soon!
